Hi Robyn!
Congratulations on your August trip!
Spirit of Aloha and Hoop Dee Doo are definitely two very different shows.
While I personally enjoy the Spirit of Aloha better, it's definitely quite possible that your boys may enjoy Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue better. It's a little more 'boisterous' and fun/interactive than perhaps Spirit of Aloha which is more of a 'Disney Channel' style story initially and then goes into the styles of dance from around the Polynesian Islands ... with the grand finale - a fire dancer which your boys
would likely really enjoy.
It really does come do a personal preference type thing for your own family. I'd recommend that you visit allearsnet.com, a non-Disney affiliated "fan-site" where you can read many reader reviews of both shows. That might give you a great indicator as to which your family may enjoy more.
Alternatively, have you considered a "date night" during your vacation? If you're unsure about the boys liking Spirit of Aloha, but you really want to see it yourself, consider booking Hoop Dee Doo for the whole family ... and Spirit of Aloha just for the adults in your party? Reserve the boys at the
Never Land Club at Disney's Polynesian Resort for the evening and they'll enjoy dinner, video games, movies and activities while you enjoy the Spirit of Aloha! It makes for a great, entertaining evening for everyone!
Wishing you a Magical time on your Walt Disney World vacation Robyn!
