We are coming in april and We have a 12&5 year old what could I do as far as a character dining for me and my 5 year old? I have tried the royal table and it is not giving me any availability. I tried the fantasmic dinner with no luck  Help

    Hi Terence,

It's great to speak to a fellow Rhode Islander!  You must be getting excited for your upcoming vacation!

I know it's difficult to believe that people actually make dining reservations months in advance, but they do.  I'm guessing that you will be travelling during your children's April vacation from school -- there are probably tons of other families from the northeast with the exact same plans.  That can make securing reservations difficult, but not impossible.

There are a few character dining restaurants that are easier to get into than others.  For some reason, I usually can get reservations at 'Ohana during breakfast or Garden Grille in Epcot for dinner.  If you like Winnie the Pooh, you may be able to get a reservation at Crystal Palace; the food is great, especially at breakfast.

If you still don't have any luck, keep trying.  Often guests will cancel the day of - opening up a spot for you to get in.  I know that can be frustrating, but you might be surprised how things end up working out at the last minute.  My advice, if you can't get the reservations you want, make some at an alternate restaurant so you have someplace to dine.  Then, before you leave for the parks in the mornings, call Disney Dining and see if there is space available at your preferred restaurant.  Just be sure to cancel your existing reservations if you get lucky!

Some of my favorite non-character dining restaurants are: 50s Prime Time Cafe, Biergarten, Whispering Canyon Cafe and Teppan Edo.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
