Coming in April to WDW with park hoppers. Park reservations are set but wondering about new hopping rules. We like the EPCOT restaurants for dinner, but what if we arrive with reservations and the park is at capacity? Can you explain the rules? Thanks!

Hey there, Douglas! Thanks for stopping by planDisney to ask your question.

Isn't it exciting that as of today, park hopping has returned to Walt Disney World? I am just like you and love to visit Epcot in the evenings for a bite to eat. I have missed that so much! Because park hopping just started back today, we still don't have all of the information about how exactly it's going to work if the Walt Disney World theme parks hit capacity in the afternoons. According to the Disney Parks Blog article announcing the return, park hopping will be subject to park capacity limitations so I am sure it will be addressed eventually. I'd imagine it will work similarly to how busy days that reach capacity have worked in the past. Typically, Guests with dining reservations would get first priority, but for now, this is just speculation. However, since park hopping doesn't begin until 2:00 p.m. each day I don't think it will be that big of an issue. Plenty of people have cleared out of the theme parks by then, including me for an afternoon swim!

Here is a quick reminder of how park hopping will currently look.
    • Guests need to have a park pass reservation for a specific park with a valid theme park ticket that has the park hopper benefit.
    • Guests will be required to enter the theme park that their Disney Park Pass Reservation is specifically made for before hopping to another park.
    • Guests will be permitted to park hop after 2:00 p.m. and currently, there are no limits in place to how many times you can park hop in a day as long as there are no capacity restrictions.
Park to park transportation for park hopping also resumed today. To board the bus for another Walt Disney World theme park, Cast Members were making sure that all Guests had valid park hopping theme park admission. If this is still the case when you visit in April, they will be able to let you know which park, if any, are at capacity. If you'd like to know before leaving your first theme park of the day, you can always swing by Guest Relations and they should be able to help you out.

All of this information is very new and could change at any time so please keep that in mind as it gets closer to your vacation. Keep checking back on the Disney Parks Blog or you can come back here and ask for an update. I hope you have a great vacation and happy hopping!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
