Coming in April for first time with 6 and 3 yr olds. Will arrive 1:00pm on first day. Should we go to MK that day or wait until next? Already have Chef Mickey booked that night. Maybe I should change to later in week so as not to overwhelm kids?

    Hi Natalie!
Great question! You do not mention if you are driving to the resort and arriving at 1PM or if you are flying into Orlando with your plane arriving at 1PM. If you are arriving at the airport at 1PM, you can expect it to take at least another hour before you get to your hotel, check in, and are ready to go. In either case, since this is your first trip, and everyone will be anxious and excited all at the same time, so you may want to alter your plan in one of two ways, depending on which you think will benefit your kids (and by extension-you). Depending on Magic Kingdom hours on the day you arrive, you can leave your bags at the resort and head straight to the park for some instant immersion into the magic. In this case, I would shift my Chef Mickey reservation to another day (maybe even to a breakfast instead), but only if you feel your kids are up for it after travelling all day.  OR, you can keep your Chef Mickey reservation and spend the afternoon unwinding at the pool, or in Downtown Disney, before dinner. My family has done both depending on park hours and how the kids feel. This past December, we arrived at the Contemporary at 1:30PM and stayed at the pool for several hours before heading to the Grand Floridian to check out the Gingerbread House and have dinner. We were refreshed and ready for a full day (and week) the next morning. I recommend the park or the character meal, but not both. The good news is, you (and the kids) can't lose either way! Have a great vacation!:)

P.S. If you know park hours and want some follow up info or suggestions, please let me know!
