Walt Disney World Halloween

Is the Columbus Day weekend a good time to visit Disney World? What are the crowds like then?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Joy!

I think the middle of October is a great time to visit Walt Disney World Resort because there's just so much going on! Magic Kingdom Park will be decorated with incredible fall foliage for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, which takes place on select nights between August 16 and November 1 this year. At Epcot, you can experience one of my favorite special events of the whole year: the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. Between August 29 and November 23, more than 30 Global Marketplaces will pop up throughout Future World and World Showcase featuring some really exciting international cuisine. Combine all this with the beautiful cool, clear weather and it makes the autumn season one of my favorite times to visit.

With all that being said, holiday weekends, including Columbus Day, are usually a pretty popular time for guests to come to Walt Disney World Resort. That extra day off of work and school makes it the perfect time to plan a long weekend vacation! Compared to other weekends that month, that holiday weekend might be a little bit busier, but there are definitely some strategies that you can use to help offset that a little bit. For example, I always like to visit Magic Kingdom Park on a day where there's going to be special event that night that requires a ticket, like Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Because the theme park will be closing at 6 p.m. for the Party, guests will often choose to go somewhere else for the day, or at least it feels that way to me! I also recommend using mobile ordering for your Quick-Service meals so you can skip the line and pick your food up right at the counter. It feels like a FastPass+ for your lunch!

I hope this answers your question, Joy, and please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help you plan your magical vacation.
