Hi there, Ashley! Welcome back to planDisney. I'm so happy to hear that you're planning to take the magical step of becoming part of
Disney Vacation Club - how exciting! Some new rules about booking were released recently, so this is a great question to clarify the changes as you're finalizing your contract. Let's get right down to business!
Many DVC Members like to use their
Vacation Points for longer stays, including international Guests who are traveling from a distance to enjoy some Disney magic. DVC accommodations offer all of the comforts of home, so they're a perfect choice for a vacation that combines plenty of time in the theme parks with a relaxing place to stay.
The change to the booking rules now states that a reservation's check-out date must fall within 11 months before any modifications can be made. I wasn't sure how this might impact your planned 21-day stay (and can I say how jealous I am over a three-week Disney vacation?!), so I called in some reinforcements from the helpful folks at
Member Services.
As the Cast Members I spoke with explained, you can book a 21-day trip in sections. So, you'll book the first 7 nights, then once you get to the check-out day, you can book another 7 nights, as that date will also be the
check-in day for the second segment of the trip. The same will apply for the final 7 nights of the reservation. It might sound a bit complicated, but it's easy to accomplish online once you are set up on the Member website! I recommend discussing this with your DVC Sales Guide as you're getting your ducks in a row before finalizing your Membership.
Ashley, I hope that being part of Disney Vacation Club opens up a whole new world of vacation possibilities for you and your nearest and dearest! If you have other questions about the ins and outs of Membership, please come back and visit us again at planDisney anytime - we're always happy to help.
Stay Magical!
