Hey there, hi there, Kate! You're as welcome as can be here at planDisney!
As a Physical Therapist, my job and life's passion are to maximize people's mobility and quality of life. As a planDisney panelist, I love helping Guests maximize the magic of their
Walt Disney World vacations. Put those two together, and I'm absolutely thrilled to answer your question and help in any way I can. Your magical adventure at the Most Magical Place on Earth is just a couple of weeks away (Woohoo!), so let's get to it!
I think you will be happy to hear that you can absolutely bring in a cane, walking stick or other
mobility device to help you navigate the parks. No special process necessary! For the safety of all Guests, the Security Cast Members inspect all bags and items entering the parks, and your walking stick may also be subject to inspection. But Hakuna Matata! It means "no worries." This security screening is just the standard procedure for all park-goers.
Just be aware that the
Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules state that Security Cast Members reserve the right to deny entry of any item they consider inappropriate, especially if it resembles a weapon. So, just be sure that your walking stick is a manageable size and style for the parks.
Kate, did you know that you can
rent a wheelchair at all four theme parks and even Disney Springs?! If walking becomes too difficult during your fun-filled day playing in the park, you can find wheelchair rentals at the front of each theme park and can rent one for the day or save by renting for your entire length of stay. Mobility and magic maximized!
I hope this was helpful, Kate, and I hope you have the most magical and memorable visit! Please feel free to stop by any time with any questions you may have.
M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E. Mickey Mouse!
