Hiya Grandpa John,
Welcome to planDisney! It is a special gift to give your grandchildren a trip to Disneyland Resort. I’m sure they will be excited, and you will love witnessing the twinkle in their eyes when they open their Christmas gift!
Let’s see if we can figure out the best way for you to make the magic happen. I reached out to the most magical elves I know, Disneyland Cast Members, for help just to see if there was a way to purchase
2-day Theme Park tickets without the dates. Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to do this at this time, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t gift some magic. My new pal and I put our heads together, and we think we have an excellent solution for you. A
Disney Gift Card with the ticket price on there would be the perfect way to have something to put under the tree and avoid predetermining dates. You can get one for each grandchild and wrap it. To find out how much to put on the gift card, you can make a “mock purchase” of the tickets by selecting a random date and adding it to your cart. I recommend selecting dates that tend to be busiest so that you can overestimate the cost of the tickets before adding it to the Disney Gift Card (that way, you can fully cover the charge no matter what date they select). Then purchase a Disney Gift Card with the amounts on them, and you have the perfect gift they can use when they are ready to select dates. The two things I love about this are that:
1. If you happen to give extra money, they can use the extra money on the Disney Gift Card towards snacks and souvenirs during their visit, and
2. When you register the Disney Gift Card, you can protect the balance in case it gets lost.
I hope this was helpful, Grandpa John! I’d be more than happy to help you with anything else you need, so please come back and see us.
Happy Planning and Happy Holidays!
