since christmas day may not be the best day for the parks(thought the magic kingdom parade was actually on christmas day, thanks for that bit of info!!)thought about downtown disney and bb boutique and dinner at 1900 that nite.will stores be open that day?

    Scott:

Unlike here in Mississippi, you'll find almost everything on the Disney campus open on Christmas Day, one of its busiest days of the year!

You are right to avoid the Magic Kingdom on Christmas Day, but I don't know that Downtown Disney would be the best alternative as practically all of the parks and venues are crowded on Christmas Day.  A good option may be to take the path less traveled, like the larger Animal Kingdom that can handle larger crowds, or simply staying at your resort and enjoying the pool (yes, many years it's warm enough to sit by the pool!)

I learned from Disney Mom Diane L. that Magic Kingdom this year was very comfortable on Christmas Eve and a visit from Santa in your room with some time at your resort on Christmas Day followed by a memorable meal sounds so much more relaxing on such a special day as Christmas than fighting the crowds.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Whitney, Mississippi

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
