We have chosen to stay at Port Orleans, but don't know which section we want to stay in. We go back and forth between FQ and Riverside, and in Riverside which part of that. Can you help?

First of all, let me assure you that you've made a great choice in resorts, David.  I just love Port Orleans.  Personally, I'm partial to Port Orleans Riverside because I find the grounds there to be just gorgeous.  I love the woodsy charm that is so evident in the landscaping and theme.  I've also found Port Orleans Riverside to have a great main pool and the very best family-friendly, free entertainer in all of Walt Disney World (Yeeha Bob in the River Roost Lounge is a hoot!).  I prefer the Alligator Bayou section of the resort because it just feels more cozy to me than the stately mansions of the Magnolia Bend section.  Lodge 18 is a great choice for being super close to the main building.

If you do go with Port Orleans Riverside, I still recommend that you visit Port Orleans French Quarter at least to look around.  When my family stays at Port Orleans Riverside, we like to take a morning walk along the Sassagoula River over to French Quarter.  As a reward for our efforts, we treat ourselves to fresh beignets from the Mardi Gras-themed food court.

I hope that gives you some food for thought, David!
