Choosing between two parks. we have a 4 year old a 12 year old and a 15 year old Magic Kingdom or Hollywood studios Is there amble things to keep a four year old engaged at the Hollywood Park?

    Hiya Lorraine,

Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney with your theme park question! Can you believe that in just a few short weeks, you’ll be walking in the Happiest Place on Earth?

Now, let’s jump into your question! First, I promise you, you truly can’t go wrong with any of the parks. Each one offers something magical for every age. But, since you mentioned Disney’s Hollywood Studios, I must say that, as a mom to a 3-year-old and a 7-year-old myself, that park holds a special place in our hearts. In fact, my youngest calls it her favorite park—and that’s saying something when Cinderella Castle exists!

Let’s start with Toy Story Land. The colors, the sounds, the feeling of being toy-sized—it’s like stepping right into Andy’s backyard! My youngest could ride Alien Swirling Saucers all day if we let her (she giggles every time the aliens spin and say “oooooh!”), and I have to admit—Toy Story Mania brings out our whole family’s competitive side.

Hollywood Studios is also home to two amazing new shows: Villains: Unfairly Ever After and The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure. The Villains show was such a fun surprise—my 3-year-old was completely into it and couldn’t stop talking about the twist at the end! And the Little Mermaid show is a total win for little ones—bubbles floating through the air, colorful puppets, and all the songs we love.

And of course, we can’t leave out Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway! It’s bright, playful, and full of those classic Disney surprises. My girls hop off singing “Nothing Can Stop Us Now” every single time.

Since you’ll be visiting in the summer, keep an eye out for Cool Kid Summer activities across the park! We recently got to color with Clarabelle and even played charades with Goofy and Donald—seriously, so much fun, and those spontaneous moments are often the most magical!

Character-wise, some of our must-dos include:

    • Olaf at Celebrity Spotlight (he gives warm hugs, of course!)
    • Mickey & Minnie in their red carpet best at Red Carpet Dreams
    • BB-8 at the Star Wars Launch Bay (especially if your little one is into droids)
For dining, you’ve got great options. If you’re up for something fun and immersive, I highly recommend Roundup Rodeo BBQ—it's all-you-care-to-enjoy and themed like Andy built it himself. Or if you’re in the mood for a cozy, home-style meal, 50’s Prime Time Café is such a fun pick. It feels just like stepping into Grandma’s kitchen. Between the TV trays, old-school shows playing, and servers who’ll lovingly remind you to keep your elbows off the table and finish those veggies, it’s just pure fun!

Lorraine, I know it can sometimes be hard to decide which park is best for little ones, but I can assure you that Hollywood Studios has more than enough magic to fill your day. If you have any other questions, feel free to come back and visit us again.

    See ya real soon!
