Our children are 8, 6, 5, and 2, and we are wondering if Mickey's Backyard BBQ the evening of our arrival will be too much following a long drive and planning on an early morning at Magic Kingdom, or if it will be a great way to start off our adventure?

    Hi there Lori,

My children LOVE Mickey's Backyard BBQ, and we try to attend at least once a year.  I actually think spending your inaugural night at the BBQ is a great idea, and fabulous way to get your kids in the "Disney spirit"!  Going to a park after a long drive is probably much more exhausting than heading over to Fort Wilderness for a wonderful evening with a country western band and several Disney superstars.  The event offers guests unprecedented access to the characters, as they can dance the night away right along-side their favorite Disney pals.  I have tons of precious pictures of my two toddlers "cutting a rug" with Mickey and Minnie.  The picnic-style buffet is delicious, and includes unlimited soft drinks, wine and beer.  At the end of your evening, dessert includes coolers filled with frozen treats and watermelon.  I'm guessing a night at the BBQ will have your entire family ready for a magical trip!

    Have a wonderful vacation!
