Hi Megan, welcome to planDisney!
Walt Disney World is the ultimate playground for families with kids of all ages. Teenagers balance their love of thrilling attractions with their love of eating all the snacks. There's plenty of both to be found at
The World's Most Magical Celebration.
If your teenagers have their own devices, a personal email account, and an interest in being active planning participants during your Disney days, I recommend they have their own
My Disney Experience accounts. In my experience, tech-savvy teens can be some of your best assets when it comes to navigating the
My Disney Experience mobile app. They're quite speedy at making Genie+
Lightning Lane bookings, disseminating the helpful information found on the
Disney Genie Service Tip Board, and navigating the parks with the in-app maps. Note that individuals under the age of 18 are not able to add a method of payment to their account, so they cannot place a
Mobile Food and Beverage order or make an Individual Lightning Lane purchase for the group.
In order to link your tickets to your teens in My Disney Experience, you'll first need to make sure you're connected as
Family and Friends. To do this online:
1. Click "Add a Guest" on your
Family and Friends List.
2. Select "I'll Enter their Name and Age."
3. Once you enter an age over 13, an option appears and you should select "Invite this Guest to connect."*
4. When you click "Done," an email will automagically be sent to your child's email. Once they click to accept the invitation, you will officially be connected as Family and Friends and can proceed with linking your tickets.
*If you decide to manage your child's account for now, select "I want to manage all plans for this Guest" and you can immediately proceed with linking tickets. You can always merge the profile you create with a My Disney Experience account your child creates at a later date, if need be.
To officially
link tickets in My Disney Experience online, click "Select" under the ticket icon. Enter the ID number and click "Next." You will then be able to assign a ticket to any member of your Family and Friends list, which now includes your children. While you're at it, be sure to check the
theme park availability calendar and make
park pass reservations for all park days as soon as you are able.
As you continue to plan Disney, be sure to planDisney!
