Shan from CA Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

My children are 5+7 and do not have their own phones. When they are in the kids only areas (Oceaneers club/lab) is there a way they can reach me if needed? Would they be able to ask a crew member to contact us via the Cruise app messenger?

Greetings and welcome back to planDisney, Shan!

Thank you for stopping by with this excellent question, please allow me to express from first-hand experience having left my child in the Disney Cruise Line – Youth Clubs many times, that the Youth Activities Counselors were always consistently outstanding in terms of their level of training, expertise, perception, and their abilities to interact with and to engage the children, and I have been so impressed on each sailing.

Shan do not worry about communication since your children will not have cell phones, you can discuss this with the Youth Activity Counselors when you bring your children to the Disney Cruise Line - Oceaneer Lab and based on my personal experience the counselors can and will send a message to your mobile device using the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App or through the vessel’s Wave Phones which are located in the staterooms. To check the hours of operation and listed activities for the Youth Clubs, please refer to the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App – you are also able to explore the area as a family during an Open House session, it’s a lot of fun, and you also have an opportunity to meet the Youth Activities Counselors.

To register your children for the Disney Cruise Line – Youth Clubs, please complete your online check-in beginning 30 days before your sail date and you will then be presented with the pre-registration section to complete. Please follow all prompts until completion, and feel free to print out any documents.

Disney Cruise Line online check-in can be completed either online by signing into your Disney Cruise Line account, accessing the Already Booked tab, and from the dropdown selecting the Online Check-In link. You are also welcome to check-in online using the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App – just remember that regardless of the method of check-in, you will need to upload photographs of all in your travel party (specification information will be provided, but basically it will need to be taken from the shoulders and above against a plain background). As well, please have the required travel documentation readily on hand.

    Tips:
Don't forget to book any Disney Cruise Line - Character Experiences during your online check-in 30 days before your sailing, some of which require reservation tickets. The complimentary, but ever-popular Royal Gathering is such an event, so please be sure to secure this event beginning at midnight, 30 days before your sailing once your online check-in is complete.

Disney Cruise Line - Room Service is very handy at bedtime, don't forget to order some milk and cookies before bed, and you can even order Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars through Room Service, or in your dining room during rotation for dessert.

Shan, I hope this information is helpful, and I wish you a most magical sailing with Disney Cruise Line.
