Do children need a passport for Mexico

Ahoy, Karen! I’m so excited that you’re going to be experiencing the beautiful Mexican coastline while cruising with Captain Minnie and her friends!

Based on your question and arrival date, I’ve deduced that you’re going to be sailing on a 7-Night Western Caribbean Cruise on the Disney Treasure out of Port Canaveral. Based on this itinerary, the Port of Call in Mexico that you will be visiting is Cozumel. This is one of my favorite itineraries to sail, and one of my favorite Ports of Call! The crystal clear waters of Cozumel are absolutely breathtaking and a shade of blue I can still see in my mind's eye today!

Since you’re sailing out of Port Canaveral on a round trip cruise (to and from the same port) in the United States, at this time children do not need a passport to travel to the Caribbean—and thus Caribbean Cruises with Ports of Call in Mexico.

Acceptable Forms of Documentation for Children Who Are US Citizens Include:

    1. Original Valid US Passport or
    2. Original Valid US Passport Card or
    3. Original Valid Trusted Traveler Card (NEXUS, FAST) or
    4. Original state-issued Birth Certificate (must be the original state-issued and not a photo, nor the hospital-issued) or
    5. Original Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA ) or
    6. Original Certificate of Naturalization

Note that children 15 years and younger do not need to present a government issued photo ID for numbers 4-6. Please refer to the official Passport and Citizenship Documentation guidelines.

Children who are not US Citizens should present a valid US Permanent Resident Card.

Please keep in mind that this information is based on today’s guidelines and could be subject to change at any time. It’s best to check back to the Passport and Citizenship Documentation guidelines a few months before your cruise just to ensure that these guidelines have remained the same and nothing further is needed.

I recommend also checking out the many Port Adventures that are available for you in Cozumel. One of my family’s favorites is the Family Beach Day at Kuza Beach All-Inclusive Pass, as it offers much of what we love about Cozumel: turquoise blue water, beautiful sandy beach, family, fun and delicious snacks!

Karen, please sail back to planDisney if you have any more questions. I wish you a wonderful cruise ahead filled with many magical memories!

    Bon Voyage,
    Rana
