Do children need their own Disney experience login before linking their magic bands and do magic bands have details of the children on them in case they get lost?

    Hi Shaun,

Welcome to planDisney and thank you for the questions!

Since you are the My Disney Experience account holder, as long as you’ve linked the Disney Resorts Collection hotel reservation, Theme Park ticket, and Disney Park Pass reservation information in the mobile app, your children’s reservations will show up on their MagicBands once linked. They do not need their own My Disney Experience mobile app accounts to get around the Theme Parks. Now if you want them to have their own accounts, it’s completely up to you! The Walt Disney World Resort does request that children under the age of 18 have their parent’s permission before creating an account. I think most big kids or teenagers have their own account once they’re of age to manage their own plans in case they’re going on trips with friends or other family members.

As a child, I actually did get separated from my family once, so it can happen. I’m glad you’re thinking about a contingency plan! A Cast Member at an attraction can scan your child’s MagicBand and possibly see their name and any Genie+ reservations they might have, but I’m not sure if they’d be able to see your specific My Disney Experience account information (your name, phone number etc.). I think the best plan of action is to prepare your kids and create a plan for if they get lost. Let them know that they should immediately go to the nearest Cast Member at an attraction or merchandise shop, tell the Cast Member they’ve been separated from their party, and the Cast Members will handle the rest. The Cast Members are equipped with the knowledge for certain situations and will know exactly what to do.

Another great tip that I wish my family knew back then was to pick a meeting location in each land you go to. For example, in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park, if you get separated, meet at Prince Charming Regal Carrousel. It’s a centrally located area and you can see around most of the attraction standing in one spot. This will surely help your family take the precautionary measures for this type of scenario. And in my story, Hakuna Matata, I ended up finding my family about five minutes later, turned out they were in the same spot I left them in!

I hope this “Bit By Bryanna” is helpful as you prepare for your holiday at the Walt Disney World Resort. If you have any other planning or holiday questions, please feel free to reach out, I’m always happy to help!
