my children would love to do a princess character meal, is it worth booking both akershus and cinderellas castle if we did that would we see different princesses or are the characters the same at both? which gets best time with princesses?

Hi Julie, I'm going to answer this question by telling you what I would do if it were my time, my kids and my money...you may think I'm being a little forward, but hey...you asked....Okay, I'll get serious now.

Both Princess character meals are wonderful and you can't go wrong with either one.  If it were me, I would choose Cinderella's Royal Table.  Why?  For me, nothing can be better than walking into Cinderella Castle, sitting in her entrance hall and riding the elevator that leads into her dining room.   Your kids will get the same opportunities to chat with the Princesses, get their autographs and take pictures with them as they would at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall.

I would like to suggest something though.  If you are willing to have a second character dining experience, why not try afternoon tea at Garden View Tea Room at The Grand Floridian Resort and Spa?  It is truly a lovely experience!  You can find more details here: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/garden-view-tea-room/.  I hope my advice works well for you should you decide to go with it....anything you choose will be wonderful...it's Disney!  Have a great time!
