Hi Karen!
Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I'm so sorry your child is dealing with this as your trip to Walt Disney World approaches. If he or she is still on crutches when you arrive, I would definitely recommend
renting a wheelchair or ECV. You can do this at any of the Parks or you can call ahead to one of
Disney's Featured Providers. These are privately owned local companies who deliver directly to your hotel--so convenient! The advantage to this is that you can keep the wheelchair day and night for the entire time you are there. It sounds like a great solution for your son.
When you enter the Parks, I would also suggest stopping by
Guest Services inside the front entrances and speaking directly with a Cast Member there about a
Disability Access Service Card. Although nothing is guaranteed, they will
assess the situation in person and make suggestions to you accordingly. One way or another, having a wheelchair or ECV would help tremendously and make it possible for your child to avoid a lot of walking which, in and of itself, will make everything much easier!
I hope this helps. Please drop by again if there is anything we can do to help you with your planning. Here's wishing you a fantastic
Walt Disney World visit.
Have a magical day!
