Hello Amy! Thanks for reaching out to planDisney!
One of my absolute favorite things about the Walt Disney World Resort is all of the wonderful dining options available. From sit-down meals at restaurants like
Tiffins Restaurant in
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park to more casual quick-service restaurants like
Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe at
Magic Kingdom Park, there really is something for everyone!
You'll be happy to hear that your children over 9 will be able to order off of the kids' menu at many table-service and quick-service restaurants throughout the resort. In fact,
you can usually order off of the kids' menu if you find an option there that's more appealing. Just double-check with your server that this is okay at the restaurant in which you are dining as each restaurant may have its own policies. For example, some restaurants may charge more for someone over 9 years of age to order off of the kids' menu (and it may be a bigger portion too).
The one exception to this would be buffet meals. All individuals over the age of 9 will be charged the full adult price for most buffet meals at the Walt Disney World Resort. However, Disney usually lets kids under the age of 3 eat for free at buffets in case you have any younger children in your party as well!
Although I do not have children of my own, I have visited the resort with my niece and nephew and as a teacher, I know a thing or two about what kids like! Some of my family's favorite restaurants to visit with kids are
Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at
Disney's Beach Club Resort,
Space 220 in
EPCOT, and
Be Our Guest Restaurant in
Magic Kingdom Park.
I wish you and your family a fantastic trip full of fun, excitement, and delicious culinary adventures!
Enjoy,
Matt
