We will have children ages 15,10,6,2 and 1. How do we work it out so that all ages get to do what they can do without the others getting irritable while waiting for their turn at their age appropriate ride?

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Sarah! I vacationed with extended family a year ago and ended up having children ages 1,5,6,7, and 10! It was nearly the same situation as you, since the 5 and 10 year old loved roller coasters but we had our baby and needed to divide and conquer.

You’re in luck with two tweens/teens in the mix, since you need to be at least 8 years old to ride in a row by yourself and 14 to be a accompanying a young child on a ride. While you’re taking the 1, 2, and 6 year old on Journey of the Little Mermaid, the 15 and 10 year olds can ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and extra time (you won’t want to miss this one!) by themselves. They may enjoy a bit of independence while you entertain the little ones. I find that guests of all ages enjoy Peter Pan’s Flight and it’s unique arial show, as well as Pirates of the Caribbean with its detailed sets and experience. Of course, the big kids (even the 5 and 6 year old) will love the interior show and thrills of Splash Mountain, so be sure to use Rider Switch with your baby for this ride. The older kids may enjoy tasting Dole Whips and Orange Bird Swirls rather than listen to the birds tweet and tikis drum in the Tiki Tiki Room, so if you have two adults in your party, this may be a good idea.  Or, you can once again extend your leash on the teens a bit in the same area of the park and split up.

If you have more questions about enjoying the parks with multiple ages, please let me know. I’m hEAR for you! ~ Lindsey P.
