My child and I volunteer at our local zoo. Would LOVE to take her on one of the backstage tours (must include animals), but everything is for 8 & up (she is 7). Any ideas? Or can we participate in the animal programs at AKL if not a guest there? TH

    Hi Shari,

You and your daughter may participate in the educational programs going on at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge throughout the day.  Amble out the back of Jambo House and meet some of the cultural guides who will introduce you both to the amazing animals that inhabit Arusha Savanna.  Pick up an Activities Guide at Guest Services at the beginning of your stay so that you can check out the vast array of encounters that are available.

I have another exciting opportunity for you to consider, though.  As a teacher, I have taken my students to participate in the incredible educational programs offered through the Disney Youth Education Series.  There is a program through this department that I bet your daughter would love.  It is called Disney's Wild By Nature and it is open to students age 7 through 15.  Your daughter needn't be part of a school group to take part in these programs.  Individual families can participate too.  Check out this page regarding individual enrollment.  I suggest you call 1-877-WDY-OUTH as soon as possible to see if you and your daughter can sign up for one of these amazing programs.

Best wishes to you as you plan your upcoming Disney adventure!
