Hiya Nusrat,
Welcome to planDisney! I'm biased, but as someone who celebrates her birthday annually at Walt Disney World Resort, there is no better place to celebrate another lap around the sun. Happy early birthday to your Mouseketeer!
This is a great question, Nusrat, and one we get frequently here at planDisney. As you know, once your child turns 10, they are officially considered an adult (at least for
theme park ticket purposes at Walt Disney World Resort). So, as soon as your son turns 10, you'll need to get him an adult ticket for the theme parks. But wait, did you book a
Vacation Package for your trip? If you did, then there is a little wrinkle to this rule. Currently, the system does not allow two different ticket types within the same reservation, which means that your child's age at the start of the trip determines the ticket type he will receive. Said another way, if you have a Vacation Package (which means your theme park tickets were purchased in the same transaction as your resort hotel reservation), then your son's age would be considered 9 for the duration of the trip. If you have a room-only resort reservation or you are staying off-site, then you will need to get your son an adult ticket from the day he turns 10 through the rest of the trip.
I hope this was helpful, Nusrat. Before I let you go, since every good birthday should have cake, don't forget to look into getting a
Celebration Cake to commemorate the occasion. You can add on a Celebration Cake to select dining reservations, and these cakes are large enough for the whole family to share. I hope your son has a very magical birthday and that you enjoy the vacation together. Please come back and see us if you need anything else.
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
