My child is traveling with a school group and their tickets can’t be upgraded to Genie+ until day of visit at each park. They are all ages 15-17. Can they purchase Genie+ on their My Disney Experience app? Or can I order for hi?

    Hi Tina, welcome to planDisney!

My son has his very first field trip tomorrow; they're going to a farm. As excited as he is to see cows, I bet his jaw would drop if I told him he may get to take a field trip to Walt Disney World Resort someday. The animals there have a little more character, if you know what I mean.

The theme park reservation availability calendar tells me next week is going to be quite busy at the theme parks. Disney Genie+ service is a great way to maximize the magic during your child's park days. All Guests with valid admission and a theme park reservation linked to their My Disney Experience account or account profile are eligible for Disney Genie+ service anytime after midnight each park day.

Guests between the ages of 13 and 17 can have their own My Disney Experience account, though they are not able to add a payment method to their account. As such, an adult that appears on their Family & Friends List must purchase Disney Genie+ service for them. It sounds like you are up for the task, so here are the steps to take each park day:

    1. Make sure you and your child are connected as Family & Friends in My Disney Experience.
    2. Access the Tip Board of your My Disney Experience mobile app (three small lines at the bottom right of the home page --> Tip Board).
    2. Click the Disney Genie+ banner that says "Purchase for Today" with the current cost per Guest.
    3. Select your child's name during the "Confirm Your Party" step.
    4. Proceed to checkout.

I recommend completing the above steps by 6:45 a.m. each morning so your child can book their first Genie+ Lightning Lane attraction at 7:00 a.m. on the dot. Please encourage your child to familiarize themselves with the My Disney Experience app before arrival. Your child can book a Genie+ Lightning Lane attraction for up to 12 people in their school group that appear on their Family & Friends list with Genie+ linked to their My Disney Experience account.

When it comes time to eat, teens cannot place a mobile food and beverage order but should know there is a cash payment option at all quick-service dining locations. No one goes hungry at Disney!

I'll be visiting the parks next week, myself, and will keep an eye out for school groups having fun in the parks. When you're ready to plan your next Disney trip, Tina, be sure to planDisney.
