Hey there, Anita!
I am so glad that you brought your question to planDisney. A school trip to Walt Disney World sounds like an amazing time. I am sure your child is super excited about their upcoming adventure. I hope that their class has the opportunity to explore all four theme parks during their travels. The
Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration will be in full swing and there is so much magic to experience.
I am so happy to hear that you have already discovered the My Disney Experience app. This will make planning park days a breeze for your traveler. They can even link their plans with members of their group. It is important to note that Prepaid Visa and other gift cards cannot be added to a My Disney Experience account for upcoming purchases. You can only add credit or debit cards. If your child is staying at a Walt Disney Resort Collection hotel with their group, you have the option of adding a credit or debit card to the account that will allow for room charging. Charges could be applied to the room by using a
Magic Band or
Magic Mobile throughout Walt Disney World. Your child could apply the Prepaid Visa or gift card to the room charge balance at check out. As a parent, I can understand that this option is probably not ideal. My personal recommendation is to send Disney gift cards or other prepaid cards with your child. We do this with our children on each of our visits. This allows them to be in charge of their purchases while staying within their budget. If you do not wish for your child to carry a physical card with them throughout the parks, you may be able to utilize their smartphone device to add prepaid cards if it offers a mobile wallet option.
I hope that this information was helpful to you, Anita. I am sure your Mouseketeer is going to have a marvelous time!
