How does a child with their ticket on their parents app, without a magic band, get on a ride if they are only with a grandparent for that particular ride. Is it possible to get a card if we are not staying on property.

    Hiya, Candy! Welcome to planDisney!

It looks like your trip is only a few short weeks away, and it sounds like this will be a multi-generational vacation, which can be such a special experience! I’m happy to help answer your question.

There are two main ways that a grandparent can access your child’s ticket. One option is to link your My Disney Experience account with theirs by adding them to your Family & Friends List. You can do this either on the Walt Disney World website or on the My Disney Experience app.

If you’ve created a profile for your child, you’ll be the only one who will be able to set permissions and approve connections for that child. To invite someone else, such as a grandparent, to help make plans, follow these steps:

    - Go to the child’s Family & Friends list.
    - Scroll down to find “Let Your Connections Plan for (CHILD’S NAME).” You’ll see a list of all your connections.
    - Choose the person you would like to grant access to and select “Send Invite.”

Once that’s done, the grandparent will receive a notification in the My Disney Experience app, along with an email. After they accept the invitation, they’ll be able to add the child’s ticket to their device and help manage plans as well.

If you prefer a physical card ticket, that’s absolutely an option, whether or not you’re staying on property. You can visit Guest Relations at the entrance to any theme park or at Disney Springs, and a Cast Member can issue a physical card ticket for the grandparent to use as needed.

Note that to enter the standby queue at any attraction, you do not need to scan your tickets. That only becomes a requirement if you’re redeeming Lightning Lanes.

Also, your trip will line up with the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts. Be sure to head to EPCOT and take advantage of the festival offerings before it ends on February 23rd!

I hope this answers your question, Candy! If anything else comes up as you continue to plan your vacation, don’t hesitate to come back and see us here at planDisney.

I wish you a wonderful trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth!
