Child Swap w/ Fastpass+ - Do ALL members of the riding party (whether in the 1st or 2nd group) NEED a fastpass? Is it still possible for an older child to ride in the 1st group (with fastpass) & in the 2nd group (with child swap) like before?

Tanya, this is such a great question, so I am glad you stopped by today to chat with us! I know there has been some confusion with Rider Switch Service since it went digital last year. I was able to use it several times in November when we traveled to Walt Disney World Resort with my sister and her family, including their one-year-old daughter. I found the change to digital such a welcome enhancement the assigned Rider Switch shows up for each guest right in their My Disney Experience account, right along with the FastPass+ selections. So easy!

Per the terms of use and the way that it was explained to us, all riders in Group One and Group Two do need to have a FastPass+ in their account if Group One plans to use the FastPass+ queue. With Rider Switch Service being digital and linked to your Disney Theme Park Ticket or My Disney Experience account, then Cast Members do have the ability to check for those FastPass+ selections. I do want to encourage you to make FastPass+ selections for everyone, as I am sure it would not be a magical moment to be turned away!

One thing that I did personally research while on that trip last November was having a person from Group One also be one of the Group Two guests. My husband was the willing subject! Note that we did all have FastPass+ selections for the attraction when we spoke with the Cast Member about obtaining Rider Switch for my sister and her husband, who were staying behind with the baby. The Cast Member said they could bring one other person, so she included my husband in the Rider Switch. He was able to use his FastPass+ with us and then he returned later with the other two to ride with the Rider Switch. My experience with this is subject to change at any time, so please consult the Cast Member about it when you obtain the Rider Switch pass.

Thanks for stopping by and please let us know if you have any other questions!
