Hi Rhonda,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I have found that children and meal times at Walt Disney World Resort can be an adventure on their own! Children under the age of 3 are expected to share a meal with a parent or family member. In fact, if you are using a
Disney Dining Plan, children under 3 do not receive meal entitlements because they are expected to share. If you have a child under 3 who happens to be a big eater, you can always order a meal for them and simply pay out of pocket.
For children ages 3-10, the rules change just a bit. If you are dining at a buffet, character experience, prix fixe meal, or dinner show you will have to pay for your child. If you are dining at a quick-service location your child is welcome to share your meal. At table-service restaurants other than the exceptions listed above, it is up to the location if they allow sharing. I will say, I have never been turned down when I asked if I could share a meal with my daughter. Be sure to ask your server as you are seated to be sure.
Rhonda, thank you for visiting us with your question. I hope you'll let us know if we can help you further with Disney Dining Plans or with any other questions you may have!
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Amy H.
