Can a child with many food allergies (gluten, dairy, and soy) have food options that don’t have their allergens? If not, Can we bring their food on the ship?

    Hello, friend!

Welcome to planDisney. I am so glad you sent us your question about food allergies! We have food allergies in my family, and I understand how important (and challenging) it is to find safe, tasty food when on vacation. This is one of the many reasons I love Disney vacations! Our entire family can enjoy meals together (that I do not have to cook!).

I recommend reviewing the Special Dietary Requests page and submitting the Disney Cruise Line Special Diets Form to notify the Crew Members about your child's food allergies before your cruise. After that, I suggest calling Disney Cruise Line to discuss your child's allergies. I would be prepared to share a list of preferred foods and brands to see if they can accommodate your child's preferences. It is not guaranteed that everything on your list will be provided, but in my experience, they do their absolute best to ensure every Guest has food options they enjoy. For example, I have been able to request specific brands of frozen donuts and non-dairy butter on most of my Disney Cruises since the ones on board did not meet our needs.

I also bring nonperishable snacks in original factory-sealed packaging on our Disney Cruises as a backup food option. Keep in mind that all items must either be consumed before disembarking at your home port or remain unopened. You can review the list of Prohibited and Restricted Items to see what cannot be brought on board.

Even with many food allergies in our family, we have enjoyed an abundance of food on our past Disney Cruises! I recommend eating in one of the main dining rooms as much as possible. At the end of dinner each night, I usually pre-order the allergy-friendly meals for the next day. It always makes me feel better to have a daily food plan, and it helps the Crew Members organize the meals each day.

Friend, I hope this information was helpful. If you have additional questions, I am happy to help!

    Happy sailing!
    Jen
