Hi there, Nancy! Welcome to planDisney and thank you for sailing our way.
Your child is in for an amazing voyage with the Disney Cruise Line! My kids can't get enough of the youth spaces onboard, and that includes Disney's Oceaneer Club and Lab as well as
Edge. As a 12-year-old your child will be able to visit both of these spaces. As Disney's Oceaneer Club and Lab require registration and an
Oceaneer Band for access to this secure play area, you will be able to know when your child is checked in to the Lab or Club by checking in with a Crew Member. The band only functions as a way to check in and check out of Disney's Oceaneer Club or Oceaneer Lab, and as a way to see which of the two spaces your child is currently enjoying. If you plan to spend time off the ship without your child, please speak to the Crew Members at the youth clubs to relay information about your plans and your contact information while off the ship.
As your child is 12, you can select whether or not your child will be allowed to check out of the secure spaces on their own or if they need to be picked up by an approved adult. If they will be visiting Edge (a space just for tweens!), there is no check-in process. Kids are free to come and go as they please. My family has found it helpful to have a notepad in our stateroom to leave notes for one another about our whereabouts throughout the day. If your child has a device with the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app installed, you will be able to send messages through the chat feature.
The Navigator app is also where you'll find the daily activity schedule listing all of the exciting activities planned for your cruise. If you click the heart icon next to anything that sounds interesting to you, the app will send a notification when the fun is about to begin.
I'm hopeful your fun is about to begin and it won't be long before you are sailing away. If you have further questions for us at planDisney, please cruise back to us. My pals and I are happy to help!
Bon Voyage,
Adrianna
