Child care- 5 yo daughter and 10 yo son. Which centre is best? Or better with in room child care? Do the in room sitters take the kids out anywhere? Thanks!!

    Hello Christy,

It sounds as if you are planning a grown-up evening out. My husband and I always enjoy getting a night to ourselves while the kids still have fun. We have used both the children's activity centers as well as an in-room sitter service and were happy with both. However, I would suggest the children's activities centers since you have older kids. We used the in-room sitter for my younger son since he wasn't potty trained or old enough for the center. My older kids, though, would probably have gotten bored staying in the room the whole time. But, this is completely your call on your comfort level.

My older kids went to the Sandcastle Club and had a blast. In fact, they didn't want to leave. They did crafts, played video games and watched Disney classic movies. They also quickly made friends with other children. I also liked how dinner was served and included in the cost of the childcare there. We had to purchase my youngest son's dinner (we got him a take out meal at the resort's quick service location) for the sitter to feed him and that cost was on top of the fee for the sitter. While we have only used the Sandcastle Club at Disney's Yacht and Beach Club, I have heard wonderful things about all of them. They are all very similar in their services, however, the atmosphere and theming is different at each location. So, it could be a matter of proximity to where you would like to go.

To answer your question about the in-room sitters leaving the room, this is allowed and based on your discretion. We allowed our sitter to take our son in his stroller for a stroll around the resort and left his room key (which did not have charging privileges). However, we made it known that we did not want her taking him near the pool. She did walk him along the boardwalk and paths at our resort. She also brought games and activities to do with him in the room.

I hope this helps you decide what to do. Have a magical time.
