    I have a child that has Autism will this be a good idea for her to go?

    Hi Jamie!

    I know from first hand experience that Walt Disney World can be a wonderful place for kids with Autism or related issues, but there will be a lot of pre-planning (on your part) that will be important to help the vacation run smoothly.  You'll need to work on orienting them with the travel, their accommodations, and what to expect in each of those situations.  We spend a lot of time looking at pictures and talking about the travel experience from A to Z. 

    If you son/daughter has issues with new places, crowds, overstimulation, etc it can be a challenge, but in my opinion, Walt Disney World provides exceptional accommodations for children that need them.  When we visit the parks, we ask for a Guest Assistance Card (GAC).  The card provides us a separate area (much less crowded and less over-stimulating) for us to wait for the rides/attractions.  We've found that keeping our time in queues to a minimum that helps us avoid meltdowns.  We also carry hearing protection (ear muffs--ours are made by Baby Banz) to help filter out loud noises, or that over-whelming crowd hum which can be difficult for kids with sound sensitivity.
