We are going to Chef Mickey our first day and not to a park. We have a child with Autism so just want to get the feel of the land. How far can we go on the Monorail? We will not be going to the park that day?

    Christine,

When we first took our child to WDW, we followed the same plan. We rode the monorail before and after dinner!

From the Contemporary Resort, you'll follow a clock-wise loop which first stops at the Transportation and Ticket Center (parking area for the Magic Kingdom). Then it's on to the Polynesian Resort, Grand Floridian and Magic Kingdom before returning to the Contemporary.

Feel free to exit at any of the resorts to look around. A nice place to watch the fireworks (away from the crowds and noise in the Magic Kingdom) is on the beach of the Polynesian.

It's also possible to exit at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) and transfer to the Epcot monorail. This loop runs clockwise between the TTC and Epcot.

There is also an express monorail outer loop that runs counter-clockwise between the TTC and the Magic Kingdom.

Chef Mickey's and a monorail ride are great first day activities!
