Hi Teresa, and welcome to planDisney! I'm excited to answer your question about two of my favorite things - character dining and fireworks viewing!
Chef Mickey's is such a great choice for character dining - I love seeing the characters in their chef hats and jackets and visiting one of my favorite resorts on property -
Disney's Contemporary Resort! We always make sure to take a loop on the
monorail before or after dinner for some fantastic views from the highway in the sky!
Chef Mickey's is located on the fourth floor of Disney's Contemporary Resort, but the fireworks are not visible from the restaurant itself. There is, however, a public observation balcony on the same level of the resort where the music is piped in for viewers. It is a short walk past the retail shops on that same level to this observation deck, so depending on the time of your reservation and the time of the fireworks show, you may be able to head to the balcony to view the fireworks before or after Chef Mickey cooks up a feast for you and your family!
If you would prefer to dine with the music directly piped in, there are two other Magic Kingdom area restaurants that host dining opportunities for the fireworks:
California Grill, also found at Disney's Contemporary Resort, and
'Ohana at
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. These options are not character dining, but they do provide some fantastic views of the nighttime fireworks from your table!
Teresa, I hope this has been helpful and that you find the perfect combination of feasting and fireworks for your family on your upcoming visit! If you have any other planning questions, don't hesitate to come back to us at
planDisney! We'd love to help!
Cheers,
Alison
