We are checking into FWCabins on 9/15/12. We will not use our park passes this day. We will arrive around 11AM---any suggestions on where we should request our cabin to be? Any suggestion on what to do this first day? Kids aged 7 and 6--1st time ever!!

My family just loves the Fort Wilderness cabins, Lisa.  I hope your family does, too!  If you're looking to be close to the Settlement Trading Post (the area where the marina and Pioneer Hall are located), you're best bet is to request a cabin located in loops 100-500 or 700.  Have you looked into renting a golf cart during your stay?  It's a lot of fun to zip around the grounds in a golf cart, and really eases transportation.

As for your first day activities, you'll have plenty to explore around Fort Wilderness.  If it were me, I'd probably just hang out around there.  You can rent bikes and go for a ride, or lounge on the beach and play a game of volleyball.  You might want to kick off your trip with a visit to the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue that first night.  That would surely put everyone in a festive mood.  Have a great time!

Meet the Panelist: Darcie, Alabama

Given your inclination to plan a magical trip, I can already tell we have a lot in common. I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists. Let's work together to plan a downright dreamy vacation for your family! Learn More About Darcie
