We will be checking into Boardwalk Inn 8/19. X-fering to Dream 8/25. Will be using Quicksilver Car service instead of Disney for all legs of travel. What time should I plan to have them pick us up to get to port on time. Is a 1pm flight home doable??

    Ahoy, Mary Jane!

Congratulations on your Walt Disney World (WDW) and Disney Cruise Line vacation -- you have the makings for a Dream of a lifetime, for sure!

Check in at Port Canaveral begins at 10:30 a.m. with the first groups boarding around 1 p.m. Different cruise guests have varying opinions about when to arrive at the port terminal. Yet, my school of thought is the sooner the better -- plus, I definitely don't like to feel rushed in case someone (or something) is moving slowly. I enjoy the atmosphere of the terminal, and usually, you can spot a character or two and take a quick picture. If you're one of the first ones on board, you'll be able to enjoy some lunch, take a tour of the ship and/or begin your relaxing as soon as possible. (Don't forget your essentials in your day bag!)

It takes approximately an hour to drive from WDW to Port Canaveral with light traffic, but I would plan for 1.5 hours of travel time just in case. Therefore, I suggest leaving WDW around 9-10 a.m. in order to be of the first to board.

As far as your flight home, a 1 p.m. flight will give you enough time to disembark (usually before 9 a.m.), claim your luggage in the port terminal and go through US customs. You'll then find your car service and head to the airport (which is only about a 45-minute drive). You'll have a plenty of time to check your bags with your airline and get a bite of lunch before you board your plane for home. I hope this helps you plan!

Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
