what is the check in process at fort wilderness

    Howdy, Lynn!

I'm so excited to see that you'll be staying at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground for your visit coming up soon!  It is my favorite resort in all of Walt Disney World.  I just love the woodsy atmosphere and the quietness of it, all while being so close to the magic of the parks!

To be honest, check-in has been a little different each time I visit.  If you are staying in a campsite with your own tent or camper, your check-in is usually at the drive-up booths just after you go through security.  You'll be able to get all of your campsite information, including a map of the campground, without even leaving your vehicle!  If you are staying in a cabin, you will most likely be directed to Reception Outpost, where you will park your car and head inside to check-in with a Cast Member.

If you are staying in a Fort Wilderness Cabin and have completed online check-in prior to arrival, you will be able to skip the Reception Outpost and head straight to your cabin when you get a notification that it is ready for you.

I highly recommend renting a golf cart during your stay at Fort Wilderness.  They are the easiest mode of transportation throughout and so much fun to drive around in.  Car parking is very limited at each of the Trading Posts and a golf cart will get you closer to all of the amenities.  Golf cart rentals are limited, so advance reservations are highly recommended.  Golf cart rentals can be picked up at the Reception Outpost at the entrance to the Resort.

I hope you have an amazing stay in a couple of weeks!

    Have a magical day!
