Ahoy, Ivan! You are in for an adventure of a lifetime, and I am so happy you cruised by planDisney so I could talk with you about the
Alaskan itinerary.
One of the most amazing things about this cruise is that it is immersed in natural wonder, which also means it is a bit unpredictable. You can view the
Port Adventures generally offered on Alaskan itineraries and search by interest, such as active, sightseeing, or culinary adventures. This list of possibilities is not exclusive to your cruise.
You can find the Port Adventures and
onboard activities you can reserve for your cruise once your cruise has been paid in full and your
booking window opens. Depending on your
Castaway Club level, this could be 123 days before the cruise for a Platinum member and 75 days before for first-time sailors.
One way to get an idea ahead of your booking window is to look on Facebook for a group specific to your cruise. In the groups I have been a part of, shipmates with a higher Castaway Club level have shared what is available to give everyone else a preview.
Once your reservation is
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo-ked, I would love to say you are all set. However, the Captain and crew continuously monitor the weather and work with local authorities on the conditions to ensure everyone's safety. They will cancel excursions while you are on board if appropriate.
That said, there are so many opportunities to see glaciers on this cruise. In Juneau, you can go whale watching, zip lining, visit dog sled camps, and go hiking. We did the
Mendenhall Glacier and Whale Quest. I took at least 300 pictures of whales, eagles, and the landscape. It was also an amazing Port Adventure because I wanted to go whale watching, and my husband wanted to see glaciers. This had both!
Another recommendation: In Skagway, my boys were all over the
Gold Fever, Alaskan Sled Dogs and Exclusive Scenic Railway. What tween boys wouldn't love sled dog puppies, gold and a train?
If you can do the
Glacier Explorer, I highly recommend it. I have my fingers crossed for you! There were friends we met on the cruise who stayed on the
Disney Wonder and said the views were stunning. I know they were. Going up close, if you can, is an experience unlike any other. We not only saw the glacier, we watched a smaller island of ice calve right next to us. The waves rocked our boat, and we could see the blue ice sparkling in the sunlight.
I hope the weather and everything else cooperate so that you can have your Alaska dreams come true. There is so much to see that even just sitting deckside and watching the views from the ship all day long will leave you awestruck.
