Hi there Vickie, and welcome to
planDisney!
What a wonderful thing you are looking to do for your family. You're like their very own Fairy Godmother! I'm happy to share some ideas to make your vacation as memorable, sunny, and budget-friendly as possible.
It sounds like you're looking to avoid peak season for Walt Disney World travel. By traveling when most children are in school, you'll experience the lowest crowds and the best prices. While the Sunshine State sees plenty of afternoon thunderstorms, all-day showers are rare, so as long as you pack ponchos and umbrellas, a little bit of rain won't spoil your fun.
If your family enjoys Christmas, then my first recommendation is to plan your trip for sometime between Thanksgiving and mid-December. This is my absolute favorite time of year to visit Walt Disney World. December is one of the driest months of the year in Florida, and by traveling in between holidays, you'll experience
the festive atmosphere and incredible decorations in the theme parks, but avoid the busiest weeks of the season.
Another great window for lower crowds and sunny, but cool weather is late January through early February. As long as you don't stay over a holiday weekend or
runDisney event that brings extra visitors to the area, I think you'll find the theme parks to be quite pleasant this time of year. You might also be lucky enough to catch the
EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, so if you decide to plan a winter getaway, stay tuned to the
Disney Parks Blog for updates on this annual event.
I hope this helps get the planning process started for you, Vickie. If you're looking for ways to save money on your Walt Disney World visit, check out these
tips from my fellow panelists, Jonathan and
Allyn. Best wishes for a magical vacation, and if there's anything else we can do to help, be sure to reach out again.
Have a bibbidi bobbidi beautiful day!
