Hi William, and welcome to planDisney!
It looks like you’re powering up for your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation, and I’m more than happy to help! The
MagicBand and MagicBand+ really come in handy at the theme parks and beyond, so it’s great to hear that you have one ready to go for your adventure.
Once you’ve linked your MagicBand and MagicBand+, you can enter the theme parks (with a valid ticket and theme park reservation), charge purchases to your resort hotel folio, scan for PhotoPass Service photographs. Of all of my vacation items, this device is what I use the most, and you can see why!
If you have a MagicBand and didn’t receive a charging cable, Hakuna Matata (no worries)! These waterproof devices do not need to be charged at all, so no need for a daily plug-in. The internal battery will last up to two years, but honestly, my own have lasted twice as long as that. Woohoo! My husband still has his olive green MagicBand, and he loves it because he can get up and go without taking the band off of a charger.
On the flip side, if you’d like to tap into more cool features, a
MagicBand+ is the way to go. Like the MagicBand, they come in a variety of designs, but they are capable of a lot more. They can interact with your surroundings and have gesture recognition capabilities. In order to do all of these fun light-up displays and haptics, it does need to be charged via a charging cable every 1-2 days during your vacation.
AN EXTRA GEM: Although your MagicBand doesn’t need charging, I strongly recommend packing a portable charger in your theme park day bag. This will come in handy in case your phone’s battery gets low throughout the day from capturing all of your magical memories or from using the
My Disney Experience app.
