Should I charge my Magic Band + before pairing for the first time?

Hi Maria Alice, thanks for visiting planDisney!

I love the new MagicBand+ because it has all of the useful features from the previous versions, but now it interacts with the theme parks in really cool ways!

Your new MagicBand+ should come with some charge, but it is recommended to fully charge the MagicBand+ prior to your first use. Some features, such as software updates and customization may be affected if the MagicBand+ does not have a sufficient charge. While you’re charging your MagicBand+, I recommend making sure you have the My Disney Experience app downloaded and up to date on your mobile device.

To set up your MagicBand+, turn it on by pressing the button on the back of the band and press the band to your phone. The My Disney Experience app on your phone should open and continue to prompt you through linking the band to your phone and then assigning the band to a Guest.

The MagicBand+ charge can last approximately one to three days, but I recommend charging it overnight between days at the theme parks. In my experience, I’ve had no issues with a fully charged band lasting through a day filled with Disney Fab 50 Character Collection interactions and checking in to Lightning Lanes. One of my favorite features of the MagicBand+ is what happens during a nighttime spectacular, Maria Alice. Keep an eye on your MagicBand+ to watch how it interacts with the fireworks show!

I hope this was helpful, Maria Alice. If you have any more questions, visit me again at planDisney!
