Is there a charge for lunch at Cookies at castaway cay?

    Ahoy, Michael!

Thanks for sailing by planDisney with your thoughtful question about lunch on Disney’s private island in The Bahamas, Castaway Cay.

Yes, a generous buffet lunch at Cookies or Cookies Too BBQ on the island is one of the many things included with your Disney Cruise Line fare. Just as with the meals onboard, your main lunch that day is part of the included cruise experience and does not require an additional on-site payment. Just as with onboard, any alcoholic drinks you’d like to enjoy while on the island will require an additional fee.

I adore this island buffet of fresh fruit, salads, BBQ-style sides, chips, ribs, chicken, burgers (beef or boca vegetarian), hot dogs, and corn on the cob. You can enjoy as many servings as you’d like, including dessert! My family’s favorite tip is to take two large chocolate chip cookies from the buffet and stroll over to the nearby soft serve ice cream machine – you know the recipe, so put them all together for a memorable ice cream sandwich on the beach!

Both Cookies and Cookies Too BBQ offer the same items but offer two locations on the island to spread out and ensure you have an efficient visit with plenty of seating. There is a covered pavilion with picnic tables and a fountain drink station, too. Lunch is typically served from 11:30 A.M. until 2:30 P.M. on Castaway Cay; please confirm the exact times in your Disney Cruise Line Navigator app once onboard.

Our days on Castaway Cay are always some of my favorite cruise memories, Michael. My family made the mistake of not planning our time properly on our very first cruise and were left wanting to do many more activities as time slipped away. Now, we try to get off the ship as soon as possible, head to Pelican Plunge early, find our favorite beach spot to relax, enjoy the water, lunch, shopping, and perhaps one Port Adventure. We loved Castaway Ray's Stingray Adventure (C13) as a family a few years ago, and always rent floats or tubes to enjoy in the water.

I hope this helps you envision what to expect on this picturesque island day together on your upcoming cruise! Please let us know what other questions you have as you continue to plan this amazing vacation.

Wishing you calm seas and island breezes,
    Amy
