Characters in flight balloon ride, daughter in wheelchair. How high are the sides, wanting to find out if she can see out before she sees the balloon? Thanks for all your wonderful help.

    Hi Julie,

I am a big fan of Characters-in-Flight at Downtown Disney and consider myself a frequent flyer.

I know that the website indicates that the gondola is wheelchair accessible but I contacted a Flight Crew Member at Characters-in-Flight to get some specific measurements for you.  The gondola is wheelchair accessible for wheelchairs no greater than 32 inches wide.  The gondola wall is ~ 3 ft high (maybe a couple of inches taller).  The Crew Member said that an adult in a wheelchair can see over the walls.

I am not sure how tall your daughter is, if she is able to stand with assistance or if you are able to lift her for a short period of time but I hope this will give you a better idea before making your decision.  I'll keep my fingers crossed that she will be able to experience Characters-in-Flight.  It really is a lot of fun!

Wishing you many magical memories :-) Allison
