Hiya, Ashley! Your question is a great one and you've come to the right place to find an answer.
As you probably know,
many aspects of the traditional Walt Disney World experience have been reimagined in an effort to keep both guests and Cast Members safe and healthy in the midst of a global pandemic. During the initial reopening phase, character greetings are temporarily paused. What that means is that guests are not currently able to line up for photos, hugs or autographs. The good news, however, is that Disney's beloved characters still make appearances around each of the four theme parks and energetically engage with kids and adults alike. At Magic Kingdom, for example, several different
character cavalcades and processionals take place along the parade route throughout the day. These celebrations are not scheduled, so you'll need to keep an eye out and your ears open. Spontaneous character sightings also take place at
Disney's Hollywood Studios,
Epcot, and
Disney's Animal Kingdom. While these character interactions are a bit different than a traditional meet and greet experience, I can tell you that they allow for some truly unique and memorable photo opportunities. Hopefully, not long from now, the masked selfies with characters in the background will be an iconic reminder of this era we're all experiencing.
The character cavalcades, processionals and motorcades aren't the only way to see favorite Disney faces, though. Modified character meals are taking place at some of my favorite restaurants, including
Chef Mickey's and
Garden Grill. These opportunities allow guests to enjoy a yummy meal while the characters parade through the dining room, dishing up waves and fun!
I sure hope this information helps in your decision making process, Ashley. And please don't hesitate to ask another question if you want advice tailored to your individual situation.
