Character Dining at Riveria

When will character interaction, such as meet and greets, tea party, or character dining begin again?

Hi Karen, and welcome to planDisney! I'm always so happy to help a fellow Floridian plan a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort. Pull up a chair and let's talk Disney!

Wouldn't a nice big hug from Mickey Mouse be great right now? I'm pretty sure we could all use one after the past year! You've probably seen that Walt Disney World has started bringing back some of its magical experiences (looking at you, fireworks spectaculars!), and the theme parks are beginning to feel more "normal." We're going to have to wait a bit longer for those hugs, though, since Disney hasn't quite gotten to the point of bringing back close character interactions.

There is a silver lining, Karen! There are a few Character Dining meals you can book right now! They're still modified experiences for now, as characters will greet you from a safe distance, but they come around to each individual table and interact with you. It's a good time to get some character selfies and blow a kiss or two. You'll get some personalized attention, even if the hugs are still on hold.

While we're not sure when character meet-and-greets might return, check the Know Before You Go page on the Walt Disney World website, as well as the Disney Parks Blog, for the latest news. As soon as Disney brings them back, you'll be among the first to know!

I hope this helps the wait for our Disney pals go a little faster, Karen. Thanks for stopping by to see us, and be sure to come back again if you have any more questions. We're always here to help!

    Keep Disney Dreaming,

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
