How do character experiences work, are there any types that I can make a reservation for?

Hi Connie! Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney!

One of my favorite experiences at Walt Disney World is interacting with the characters. When my kids were little, I would plan the entire vacation around characters they could meet so we could fill up their autograph book with signatures and pictures. That album is a treasured memory in our home!

As you may know, there have been a few changes and enhancements to visiting Walt Disney World to ensure the health and safety of all Guests and Cast Members. Character experiences are among those changes, so there are a few things to know before you go.

    1. Character Dining Experiences: A great way to meet the characters is to book an advanced dining reservation at a location that offers character dining. There have been a few modifications to character dining experiences, but you can still find the Fab Five (Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, and Donald) at Chef Mickey's at Disney's Contemporary Resort. You can also meet Mickey, along with Chip and Dale, at Garden Grill at EPCOT. Check out the full list of character dining experiences that are currently available and keep an eye out on the Disney Parks Blog for announcements of new character dining options.
    2. Character Cavalcade: You can find character calvacades in Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney's Hollywood Studios. These fun mini parades allow you to see and wave at the characters. The showtimes for the cavalcades in the My Disney Experience mobile app
    3. Socially Distanced Meet-n-Greets: You can find the Disney princesses in socially distanced meet and greets around the World Showcase. I've also spotted Winnie the Pooh in EPCOT over in the grassy knoll across from Journey Into Imagination with Figment. Currently, you can view these characters from afar, but not have them sign autograph books nor give hugs.
    4. Indoor Character Meet-n-Greets: There are a few opportunities to meet the characters indoors, which offers a more traditional meet-n-greet. You can meet Mickey Mouse in Town Square and Cinderella and Tiana at Princess Fairytale Hall at Disney's Magic Kingdom. You can even purchase Lightning Lane for those character meet and greets, which is a way to make a reservation for meeting the characters.
I hope this helps you plan your vacation around meeting the characters! Have a magical vacation!
