I have a character dining reservation on Sunday March 11 at Chef Mickey's. We will be celebrating my sons 6th birthday. I've already ordered the cake but are there any other tips I should know to prepare. i will be at animal kingdom or epcot that day.

    H there, Ester!

Happy birthday - in advance! - to your son!

Make sure that when you arrive at your selected Park that you head right for Guest Relations and pick up a complimentary birthday button for your son, which the Cast member will then personalize. You can also get an "I'm Celebrating!" button for each member of your traveling party, again, which can be personalized.

Wear that button all day! Disney loves to celebrate, and birthdays are the perfect time to make a fuss over special Guests.

When you arrive at Chef Mickey's, remind the Cast Member at check-in that you are there to celebrate your son's big day. It's possible that you might find a surprise on your table for him - but there are no guarantees.

One tip that I'll offer: as a birthday gift, purchase a Disney Gift Card for your son and allow him to spend it on whatever he likes in the Parks This way, "squabbles" are minimized, he has the fun of shopping for himself, and - don't let him know this! ;) - he is learning a little something about budgeting.

And make sure to allot plenty of travel time between the Park and the Contemporary Resort. When you decide where you plan to go, feel free to drop me a line and I'll be glad to assist you with a travel plan.

    Have a wonderful time!

    See you later, celebrator,
    -Deborah B.
