Ahoy, John! Welcome to planDisney. Your character breakfast plan sounds like a blast, and I'm happy to help you map out how you can arrive on time for your 7:45 AM reservation.
I am a huge fan of
watercraft transportation at Walt Disney World Resort. In fact, I consider it an attraction in itself and have been known to take a leisurely round-trip cruise from my resort. You, on the other hand, will be on a tight timeline!
Disney's Wilderness Lodge does in fact offer a water taxi option, but boats from this resort to
Disney's Contemporary Resort on the blue flag route or to Magic Kingdom Park on the red flag route usually do not begin running until 45 minutes prior to park opening (including Early Entry). That means the first boat that would be able to whisk you away to your destination will not be available until your reservation time of 7:45 AM. Similarly,
bus service begins at the same time, so you wouldn't be able to hop on a bus to Magic Kingdom and then complete the short walk to Disney's Contemporary Resort.
You may want to consider using a
Minnie Van Connected by Lyft. They will be able to pick you up at Wilderness Lodge and deliver you directly to the Contemporary for your breakfast. Plus, you can schedule your Minnie Van as early as 6:30 AM on your travel day. You may also choose to explore other rideshare services, or consider taking your own vehicle or rental car if you will have one with you. If you have your own vehicle, you can drive to the Contemporary and let the Cast Member at the entrance gate know you have a dining reservation.
Finally, no matter what transportation method you choose, keep this final tip in mind: if you end up running a bit behind and are at risk of being late to your reservation, give the restaurant a call and see if they can hold it for you. I have had luck with this in my experience, so it's worth a try if you run into any speed bumps on the morning of your breakfast reservation.
Ok, John! I hope that paints a clear picture of your transportation options for your early breakfast. Meet me back here at planDisney if there are other questions I can answer or tips I can provide for you. Have a fantastic vacation!
Stay magical,
Scott
