does changing my party size from 1 person to 2 add to the cost of my room?

Hi Randy and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Most Walt Disney World Resort Hotel pricing is based on double occupancy, meaning two adults in the room. If you have two adults the price of your room should not change. If you are going to have more than two adults in a room, there is an additional charge.

Currently, if you have more than two adults on your reservation at a Value Resort you will be charged an extra $15.00 per adult per night. If you are staying at a Moderate Resort the charge will be $25.00 per additional adult per night and finally, if you are staying at a Deluxe Resort the charge will be $35.00 per additional adult. There is no charge for an additional adult at Deluxe Villa Resorts. These rates and policies are always subject to change.

Fortunately, changing your party on a room-only reservation from one adult to two adults won't affect the room cost. Please note, if you have a package including tickets and/or dining, the cost will increase when you add another person.
