with changes to qsd, we are considering deluxe dp. what are your thoughts? never done sit down at wdw before, so i feel overwhelmed with ressies, timing, etc. taking 8 people total.

    Hi Carrie,

I am a huge fan of the Disney Dining Plan.  My family uses it as often as possible while vacationing at Walt Disney World.  We find the plan to be incredibly easy to use and cost-effective.

My instincts tell me that if you have never experienced a sit-down meal at Walt Disney World, you might want to choose the basic Disney Dining Plan (with one table service, one quick service, and one snack credit per person each day) rather than the Deluxe Dining Plan.  The Deluxe Dining Plan is an excellent choice for families who wish to spend a considerable amount of their vacation time indulging in fine dining experiences.  Personally, that sounds amazing to me.  For many guests, though, they do not wish to spend that high a percentage of their vacation time dining.  The basic Disney Dining Plan is a fabulous compromise because it allows you to use your table service credits to explore the very best cuisine on property and use your quick service and snack credits when you are trying to make good time between attractions.

No matter which Disney Dining Plan you choose, be sure to call (407) WDW-DINE up to 180 days in advance of your vacation to make reservations for your table service meals.  The most popular restaurants fill up quickly so your party of eight will definitely want to have reservations.  If you need recommendations for restaurants, just let us know. If there's a particular kind of cuisine you seek, we can help you find it!   (I just love Disney dining questions).

Good luck to you as you plan your magical Disney adventure.  When you start to feel overwhelmed, fear not!  The Walt Disney World Moms Panel is here to help you every step of the way.  Don't be afraid to let us know when you require additional assistance.
