Hi Rebecca!
From one Marylander to another it's a pleasure to give you a hearty "ahoy" and welcome you to planDisney! Are you ready to set sail in just under a week? It's the final countdown for your trip and I usually spend my time just like you - finalizing all those last-minute plans while excitedly
packing my suitcases!
Rebecca, I'm excited to hear that you have a young Mouseketeer who will be sailing with you as well! My oldest was just 17 months old when we first discovered the joy of Disney Cruise Line and he had an absolute blast on our cruise. Like you, we took advantage of reserving nursery time ahead of our vacation.
"it's a small world" nursery! is perfectly designed for the youngest sailors to enjoy playing or resting all while being cared for by Disney's well-trained and caring counselors. We liked to reserve time during our at-sea days while our little one would nap so we could enjoy some of the adult-only areas of the ship such as the
Quiet Cove Pool. We also used the nursey to have a fantastic dinner at the adult-exclusive restaurant,
Palo, one evening.
Due to its popularity and limited capacity, you are only able to reserve a certain number of hours ahead of your cruise based on the length of your voyage. Unfortunately, if you have reserved the maximum number of hours, you won't be able to view additional availability online until you cancel an existing reservation. You are also able to modify current reservations and add additional hours (based on availability) once on board by visiting the nursery. Typically the nursery has open house hours while guests are boarding the ship. This is a great time to check out the space, meet some of the counselors, and add to or modify your reserved times.
Rebecca, you'll also want to make sure you have downloaded the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App before sailing as you'll be able to view all of your plans in one place and access activity schedules around the ship while you're at sea. Be sure to keep an eye out for some special activities designed just for little ones! My son loved Toddler Time with special dance parties, games, and even an occasional surprise visit from a character. There are also special areas on the pool deck for kids who are not yet potty-trained to enjoy some water fun - just make sure to pack some swim diapers! You'll find
Nemo's Reef on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy,
Nephew's Splash Zone on the Disney Magic, Dory's Reef on the Disney Wonder, and Toy Story Splash Zone on the Disney Wish.
I'm sending lots of pixie dust that you and your family enjoy making the most magical memories on your vacation! If you have any other Disney vacation planning questions in the future, please feel free to
write me or any of my panelist pals again - we're all ears!
SEA ya real soon!
